  1. Olive oil.
  2. Sautee onion, then garlic.
  3. Add ground beef and wait till cooked.
  4. Diced can tomato.
  5. Add beef broth. If no beef broth use water then add beef cube.
  6. Add raisins.
  7. Cover the pot for 5m.
  8. Add olives, potatoes, green peas (or canned green peas).
  9. Cover pot for 10m to cook.
  10. Add salt and crushed black pepper to taste. Optional: add fish sauce.
  11. Cook for a few more minutes.

A classic, nostalgia inducing meal with ground beef and potatoes. A Cuban creation, picadillo is one of the world's great ground meat dishes. I went with beef, but you can add some pork and/or chorizo. The result was a delicious picadillo that was quite a hit at home. Being so successful there, I made another batch to bring into the restaurant where I work, and the kitchen staff devoured it enthusiastically.
